Square Footage:

8,100 sf

This project is a collaboration with Kimberly Bolan and Associates and Amara Associates for redesigning an approximately 8,100 square foot children's space at Plainfield Public Library in Plainfield, Indiana. The design for the renovated space helped Plainfield Library to rethink the allocation of their space, service areas, and furnishings. It helped to provide more informal spaces throughout the room for different ages and stages, including pre-teens and parents / caregivers. The design starts at the fun, new entry which transports you to an exciting, new space. There's even a crawl tube! “whimsy” colors, and “wow factor" provide more opportunities for “educational fun.” Each age group has a space they can easily identify as their own and feel at home in. Zones flow together in a very fluid curvilinear manner which is enhanced with a circular carpet pattern. The large circular window area has been transformed into a destination place complete with interactives, puzzle and tablet counters, picture book storage units, and comfortable seating.
